Is there a "best" programming language to use for hacking, or do they all have different pros and cons?
EDIT: I only know C++ and Java, is there any other language that is crucial for me to learn if I want to be a successful hacker, like HTML or something?

Well I guess that depends what kind of hacking you are interested in. If you prefer web hacking such as XSS, SQL Injections, ect, then HTML and PHP would be a good start to learn. ____________
as TH said, it really depends on what kind of hacking you want to do. If you want Web hacking, PHP, SQL, CSS, HTML are some of the most commonly used as well as ASP
For rooting stuff you need to be fairly good, and since most servers are closed source you need to learn some form of assembly so you can reverse engineer them and look for vulns. If you have open source servers in mind then whatever language the app is written in is the best as you will have the source written in that language. The best for rooting is C/C++ and ASM. ____________ A.K.A DigitalOutcast

Just going to concur with the above. Hacking is more about picking a target, picking your goals, focus on achieving them. It is more about how to do something that said can't be done, then learning a counter-attack. Meaning if are using this then this will be better to override it. You know what I mean? I would suggest to keep you studies wide in variety and always look for a challenge. The rest will some to you. ____________ The philosophy of one century is the common sense of the next. -Fortune Cookie
